Possible Breast Implant Complications;

1. Haematomas: less than 2%
2. Sensory changes: 15% dysesthesia dysesthesia (an unpleasant, abnormal sense of touch, may be considered as a kind of pain) or anaesthesia (lack of sensation) may be permanent if still present after the first year – caused by damage to intercostal nerves.
3. Infection: 1-2%
4. Scars: Hypertrophic scars may result in inframammary fold.
5. Asymmetry: Associated with breast size and shape, with pocket dissection or capsular contraction.
6. Implant extrusion: Caused by infection, implant folds or tight brassieres.
7. Contour irregularities: Rupture of gel implant with encapsulation of extruded gel.
8. Capsular contraction (more details): Is a capsule of scar tissue. This can become thickened with resulting breast firmness.
9. Leaking implants or intracapsular rupture or deflation with saline implants (from valve failure) + / – 2%
10. Research has shown no link between breast cancer and breast implants. Similarly, there is no association with connective tissue diseases.
